NASB — 1 Corinthians 10 — KJV

Avoid Israel’s Mistakes

1 For aI do not want you to be unaware, brethren, that our fathers were all bunder the cloud and all cpassed through the sea; 2 and all were abaptized into Moses in the cloud and in the sea; 3 and all aate the same spiritual food; 4 and all adrank the same spiritual drink, for they were drinking from a spiritual rock which followed them; and the rock was IChrist. 5 Nevertheless, with most of them God was not well-pleased; for athey were laid low in the wilderness.

6 ¶ Now these things happened as aexamples for us, so that we would not crave evil things as bthey also craved. 7 Do not be aidolaters, as some of them were; as it is written, “bTHE PEOPLE SAT DOWN TO EAT AND DRINK, AND STOOD UP TO cPLAY.” 8 Nor let us act immorally, as asome of them Idid, and btwenty-three thousand fell in one day. 9 Nor let us try the Lord, as asome of them Idid, and were destroyed by the serpents. 10 Nor agrumble, as some of them Idid, and bwere destroyed by the cdestroyer. 11 Now these things happened to them as an aexample, and bthey were written for our instruction, upon whom cthe ends of the ages have come. 12 Therefore let him who athinks he stands take heed that he does not fall. 13 No temptation has overtaken you but such as is common to man; and aGod is faithful, who will not allow you to be btempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will provide the way of escape also, so that you will be able to endure it.

14 ¶ Therefore, my abeloved, flee from bidolatry. 15 I speak as to wise men; you judge what I say. 16 Is not the acup of blessing which we bless a sharing in the blood of Christ? Is not the Ibbread which we break a sharing in the body of Christ? 17 Since there is one Ibread, we awho are many are one body; for we all partake of the one Ibread. 18 Look at Ithe nation aIsrael; are not those who beat the sacrifices sharers in the altar? 19 What do I mean then? The sacraments of the Jews,

1 ¶ Moreover, brethren, I would not that ye should be ignorant, how that all our fathers were under the cloud, and all passed through the sea; 2 And were all baptized unto Moses in the cloud and in the sea; 3 And did all eat the same spiritual meat; 4 And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ. 5 But with many of them God was not well pleased: for they were overthrown in the wilderness.

We must flee from idolatry.

14 Wherefore, my dearly beloved, flee from idolatry. 15 I speak as to wise men; judge ye what I say. 16 The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not the communion of the blood of Christ? The bread which we break, is it not the communion of the body of Christ? 17 For we [being] many are one bread, [and] one body: for we are all partakers of that one bread. 18 Behold Israel after the flesh: are not they which eat of the sacrifices partakers of the altar? 19 What say I then? that the idol is any thing, or that which is offered in sacrifice to idols is any thing? 20 But I [say], that the things which the Gentiles sacrifice, they sacrifice to devils, and not to God: and I would not that ye should have fellowship with devils.
